Discussion:
Free leopard upgrades?

I see that leopard is due out in October. I'm thinking of getting a
macbook pro, but I don't feel like paying for an upgrade only a few
months later.

I seem to remember that, with tiger, there was a period where you'd
get a voucher for a free upgrade if you bought a laptop a few months
before it came out.

I'm not keen to wait until October. Any suggestions of when I'll
probably be able to order a 'leopard upgrade included' tiger version
of a macbook?

it's typically a 60 day grace period where you can send $19.95 and get
Leopard for "free". Or sorta...

They never bang the drums about an upgrade ahead of time the way
Microsoft does. Unless you see something written up about it from
Apple, I'd assume you won't get an upgrade.

Nothing is free in the Apple world. That's what makes them so great. LOL

They love fucking their customers over.

Oh well, that's the price we pay when a company has a monopoly on
quality computing and no competition.

I suggest asking a dealer about it.

alt.deposit!?
Some people have asked about this before. I created alt.deposit a few
years ago and use it for keeping track of debates in busy groups.
Apart from me, only one or two other people have ever used it, so
there's no danger of lots of cross-posting.

Really? Looks to me like someone named Sandy Takmir created the group.

Probably as of the date that Apple announces the exact release date.

I bought my iBook right before Tiger and got no such voucher. I even
asked.
